Zach Marhanka is a Project Associate at the Energy & Environment Lab. He holds bachelor's degrees in economics and global sustainability, and a minor in statistics, from the University of Virginia. As an undergraduate, his interests focused on development and energy economics, specifically low-income solar energy access and adoption. Prior to working in Chicago, Zach was a Fulbright-Nehru Student Researcher studying solar irrigation usage among cultivators in Pandharpur, Maharashtra. He also worked for ICF International to support the Department of Energy and various state energy offices on energy supply-chain risk assessments and security profiles. Outside of the lab, Zach is a novice permaculturist, avid meditator, and self-described outdoorsman.
