Veenaa is a graduate student in the MA Economics program at Columbia University,
where she enjoys her role as a teaching assistant for Intermediate Microeconomics. Her
undergraduate thesis at Shiv Nadar University investigated the causal effect of prenatal
exposure to flood events on infant and neonatal mortality in South Asia—a project that
led her to develop a persistent interest in environmental economics, framed within her
broader interest in applied microeconomics. Veenaa is further honing her research skills
through her work as a summer research intern at the lab, providing analytical support on
economics and policy projects. Fluent in Japanese and French apart from English, she
brings a multicultural perspective to her academic and extracurricular activities. In her
free time, Veenaa enjoys artistic swimming, experimenting with new baking recipes, and
unwinding to her favorite K-pop tracks.
