Alejandro López-Aguilar is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Energy & Environment Lab, where he conducts research at the intersection of environmental and development economics. He employs experimental and quasi-experimental designs to investigate the causal impacts of policies and environmental conditions on the well-being of individuals and communities. Alejandro earned his PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of Maryland. His job market paper utilizes stated preferences and instrumental variables to identify the herterogeneous impacts of rainwater harvesting and the implications of subsidizing this practice at different subsidy levels. Alejandro holds a BA in Economics from UNAM and an MA in Environmental Economics from CIDE, both in Mexico. Apart from his academic work, Alejandro is an enthusiastic movie watcher and enjoys rock climbing.
