Evelyn Diaz is the President of Heartland Alliance.

Before joining Heartland, Diaz served as Commissioner of Chicago’s Department of Family & Support Services where she was responsible for citywide social service programs in the areas of children, youth, homelessness, domestic violence, aging, workforce development, and human services.

She previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff for former Mayor Richard M. Daley. She has held leadership positions with the Chicago Workforce Investment Council and the Chicago Jobs Council. She has also worked as a direct practitioner for domestic violence victims and homeless women, and coordinated economic development initiatives in Chicago's 46th Ward. 

Diaz holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame and an MSW from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration.
