David Meltzer is Chief of the Section of Hospital Medicine, and Director of the Center for Health and the Social Sciences at the University of Chicago, where he is a Professor of Medicine and affiliated faculty of the Harris School of Public Policy and Department of Economics.
Meltzer is a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and an economics advisor in the National Institutes of Health Director’s Office, and has served as a health economics advisor for the Congressional Budget Office.
Meltzer led the formation of the Chicago Learning Effectiveness Advancement Research Network (Chicago LEARN), enabling Chicago-area academic medical centers to collaborate in hospital-based comparative effectiveness research and initiatives, including development of the Chicago Area Patient Centered Outcomes Research Network (CAPriCORN).
