Panka Bencsik is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Crime Lab. She graduated with a PhD in economics from the University of Sussex in England. The key paper of her dissertation "Stress on the sidewalk: Mental health costs of close proximity crime" examined the beyond-victim costs of local criminal activity. Her research interests include the economics of crime, health, and mental health. During her PhD Panka spent a year as a Fulbright Scholar at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC.
