Oeindrila Dube is the Philip K. Pearson Professor of Global Conflict Studies at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago.
Her research uses tools from economics and political science to study the causes of poverty and violence in societies around the world. In past work, she examined how U.S. gun laws affect violent crime in Mexico, and how commodity price shocks promote civil conflict in Colombia. In the U.S. she is studying strategies for re-integrating juvenile offenders into the labor market, and training programs aimed at improving officer decision making and community-policing relationships.
Dube is also affiliated with the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and the Abdeel Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), where she co-directs the Crime and Violence Initiative.
