Anuj Shah is an Associate Professor of Behavioral Science at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, who studies the psychology that arises from facing resource scarcity.

Shah’s research explores how behavioral science can help shape interventions to reduce crime and violence. He is a collaborator with Jens Ludwig and other Crime Lab affiliates on recent studies of Youth Guidance’s Becoming a Man program in Chicago. His research has appeared in Science, Psychological Science, and Psychological Bulletin, among other journals.

He is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board at ideas42, a social science research and development laboratory that uses scientific insights to design innovative policies and products for public sector organizations, specifically in health and infrastructure.
