Michael Thompson is a Research Analyst in the Crime Lab working closely with Crime Lab's Research Director to help the Chicago Police Department leverage advanced data analytics to reduce violence in the city’s most distressed neighborhoods. Prior to joining Crime Lab, Michael worked as a Research Analyst for the Institute for Housing Studies at DePaul University and as a Research Fellow for the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from the University of Rochester and an MPP from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy.

If Michael is not at work, then he is probably playing and losing an overly complicated board game.
